Louis Castillio Medic 1966

Hello, My name is Charles Nordan. I was a medic with A company 1/5th in 1966. I had a buddy that was a medic with C company 1/5th. He was KIA in 1966 near the Ia Drang. This was not the famous Ia Drang encounter of 1965 but happened a year later.
The way I heard it was Charlie company was chasing four or five NVA and ran into an ambush. The company was over runed by about a battalion sized unit of NVA and there were many casualties. My company heard the call for assistance but could not get to the area in time. I lost my friend Louis Castillio during that battle. It was a terrible day that I will never forget. We had to put the bodies in a net and throw their equipment on top of them. I have never forgotten that, because it, somehow seemed disrespectful to throw the equipment on top of those brave men.
